The film is the true story of the heir to the throne of the Bamongwato (Botswana) tribe who is studying law in London.
Set after WW2, King Seretse Khama meets a British white woman, Ruth Williams, a London office worker, but their loving controversial marriage is challenged not only by their families but also by the British and South African governments.
The latter had recently introduced the policy of apartheid and found the notion of a biracial couple ruling a neighbouring country intolerable.
Come along to the Cowra Civic Centre’s Theatrette for an unmissable movie and enjoy a renowned CWA afternoon tea with members of the Cowra CWA Evening Branch.
The movie will be screened at 2pm on Sunday, June 25.
$15 Concession, $20 Adult.
