Rory Brien has watched his side miss out in two close games this campaign.

For the second week in a row the Cowra Magpies have missed out on getting their season underway by the narrowest of margins, this time in Oberon losing a tight battle 30-20 on Saturday.

Cowra gathered massive momentum at either side of the break to level the scores at 14-all after 55 minutes.

The Tigers responded during the latter stages of the match and ran out 10-point winners.

The win marks Oberon’s second in two weeks, taking them to a share of the competition lead with Orange CYMS and Mudgee.

They thumped Orange Hawks to open their season in the opening round.

The Tigers join CYMS and the Dragons as the only unbeaten sides in the competition, the green and golds take top spot thanks to their points difference.

This weekend the Magpies travel to Blayney where they meet the Bears at King George Oval.

Oberon look to keep their perfect season in tact hosting Lithgow Workies.
