Eight balloons were launched on Monday morning ahead of the challenge, which will run from April 18 until April 25.
Hundreds of motor homes and RVs have already made their way to town and have set up camp at Canowindra’s sports oval.
Balloon flights are weather dependent, however the forecast for the week looks clear with no rain and only slightly cloudy on Friday and Saturday.
Motorists and spectators are reminded that balloons only fly at dawn and dusk and to be mindful of any markers dropped during the challenge as it can affect the pilot’s results.
