The two had met previously during Sir Cosgrove’s recent visit to Cowra.
He is patron of the Men’s Shed organisation of which Mr Bundy is also a huge supporter.
The Cowra Men’s Shed and the fortunes of the Cowra Magpies rugby league team were discussed and joked about during Friday’s award ceremony.
Mr Bundy was named as a recipient of the award in the Australia Day Honours List for his volunteer work and community service to Cowra.
“It really stirred me up,” Mr Bundy said of the notification of the award in January this year.
“I was pleased, you don’t expect those things to happen,” he said.
“You do a lot of things in life where you just do them, you don’t expect anything in return, you just do them,” Mr Bundy told the Cowra Guardian in January.
And Mr Bundy has done plenty for the Cowra community since arriving in the town as a 39 year-old.
His involvement has spanned from business to community and sporting organisations.
As the owner of Cowra Motors he was a big supporter of Cowra sport, in particular the Cowra Magpies, the Cowra Greyhound Club and the Cowra Harness Racing Club.
Mr Bundy was treasurer of the Cowra Men's Shed from 2007 until 2016 and secretary from 2010-2016.
He has also been involved in Cowra Rotary, the Cowra Business Chamber, Cowra’s Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, the Cowra Seikei student exchange program, Cowra TAFE, Little Athletics and the Cowra Show Society.
