Preparations are ramping up for this year’s 10-week challenge, beginning on Monday, January 30.
Committee president Tabitha Jones says last year’s inaugural event was a massive success, and expects the community to be excited about getting involved again in 2017.
“People can’t wait for it start again,” Tabitha said.
“People who missed out and wanted to take part last year have been messaging us, trying to find out when we kick off. We want everyone onboard again.”
More than 400 people took part last year, a number Tabitha hopes they can eclipse this time.
A focus has been placed on encouraging men to get involved, with men specific activities added to the calendar of events including personal training and kickboxing.
Tabitha says their aim is to get people involved in the community and think about making healthy decisions.
“The idea is to make one healthy lifestyle change, that’s what we’re asking people to do in that 10 weeks,” Tabitha said.
“We’re tapping into everything we can and letting the community know what they can be a part of. Last year we had heaps of fun.”
Registration day is set for Australia Day, January 26 between 11am and 4pm at the Cowra Aquatic Centre. Tabitha encourages people to register that day, if not sign ups can be completed up until January 30.
“On Australia Day it’ll be free entry to the pool and we’ll be taking registrations so we want every to come down and find out about Bring Healthy Back.
“There’ll be games, watermelon eating competitions, giant connect four, there’ll be rock climbing and tai chi is free for people who register at 11am.”
A presentation night will conclude the 10-week challenge, with heaps of prizes to giveaway including the chance to win $1000 for those who register.
The challenge coincides with the first school term in 2017, beginning on Monday, January 30 and finishing on April 9.
