England have continued their dominance over the Wallabies, running out 37-21 winners at Twickenham on the back of a sensational second half from the hosts that will only reopen the wounds of a humiliating series whitewash in June.

After falling behind 10-0 off the back of an outstanding start by the Australians, Jones' Red Roses exhibited their class as they ran over the top of the Wallabies on their way to a 14th consecutive win - an England-equalling record.

"The only record we're interested in beating is being the No.1 team in the world and to do that you've got to win the World Cup," Jones said. "To beat the third best country in the world four-nil is fantastic. Don't you reckon?

"We've offered them [Australia] to come in and have a beer. We've got cold beers actually."

For all the verbal barbs leading into the match, Jones can, for a remarkable fourth time in 2016, take bragging rights over Cheika, who now has the unfortunate distinction of being in charge of the first Wallabies team to lose nine matches in a calendar year.

The Wallabies were their own worst enemy at times. They should have made more of early territory and were without answers when England clicked into gear at about the 25-minute mark.

At 30-21 with six minutes remaining, there was a flicker of hope for the Wallabies but a horrible intercept pass from David Pocock, in his last international game until at least 2018, put the icing on the cake for England as they finished their blemish-free record in 2016.

"We made errors and that cost us," Cheika said. "We had good first half and but then we had a good second half last week as well. Everyone knows the game goes for 80 minutes so you've got to play both halves as best as you can.

"They [England] are playing a good game. They believe very much in the style of game they're playing. [They are] very well coached and you don't win 14 Test matches in a row out of luck. They're playing very good rugby, that's why they're winning games."

England halfback Ben Youngs, who scored a crucial try in the 50th minute with a clever dummy from a quick tap, outclassed his opposite man in Nick Phipps whose horror run against the old enemy continued.

Earlier, Australia could have hit the lead within two minutes but five-eighth Bernard Foley pushed his penalty attempt to the right in what fans hoped wouldn't be another wayward display with the boot like we saw in June.

Foley (67 per cent) was unable to find his radar in comparison to Owen Farrell and George Ford (87 per cent).

England could consider themselves extremely lucky when Farrell and Mike Brown made an absolute meal of trying to clear a ball out in their in-goal.

Had it not been for a Pocock knock-on, one that was not completely clear-cut, England could have found themselves down a try in embarrassing circumstances.

It prevented Tevita Kuridrani from completing the remarkable feat of five tries from five games on a spring tour.

Talk about scrums has dominated headlines this week but it was the hosts who were left with egg on their face when the Wallabies orchestrated a turnover from the first scrum of the game which led to Australia's opening try.

Five metres out from England's tryline, Australia managed to get the ball back and give it to Sefa Naivalu who dived over on the left wing for his second try in as many matches.

England were completely rattled but three no try decisions from the TMO in the opening 14 minutes somehow kept them in the contest.

They slowly began to find their groove, despite an avalanche of possession to the Australians, with two George Ford penalties reducing the deficit to 10-6 after 28 minutes.

And just like that England hit the lead. A poor piece of indecision from Phipps saw the ball go to ground. England No.12 Farrell then kicked forward before Jonathan Joseph scooped up the loose ball up to go over for a five-pointer.

The anger on Cheika's face throughout the match was unmistakable and he appeared completely perplexed at a number of refereeing decisions.

"There were a few decisions we would have said we wouldn't have agreed with," Cheika said. "Even though there was a few decisions like that, we had opportunities ourselves to break that momentum."

He would, however, have been pleased to see England tight-head Dan Cole penalised for boring in – a nice reward for his calling out the forward during the week.

Australia, who had 70 per cent of possession in the opening 40 minutes, would have been disappointed to only lead by three points at the main break but their auspicious work in attack sent a message loud and clear to England they would not be in for a walk in the park.

Like they did so often when they were in Australia earlier this year, England took their chances when they presented themselves.

A deft grubber kick from Joseph landed in the hands of Marland Yarde on the right wing. In a game of millimetres, the TMO ruled the winger always had control which resulted in England going up 20-16 in a noticeable momentum shift.

Opinions were divided about whether that was the case in a match that saw England get the rub of the green on a number of occasions.

As another chapter closes, England have genuinely shown that they are capable of pushing New Zealand as the world's best team.

Their improvement under Jones has been rapid but this latest defeat will be an extremely bitter pill to swallow for Cheika in what has been a fascinating rivalry between two head coaches who wear their heart on their sleeve.
