Honoured for her work in creating a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment through the game of netball, Mandy has been instrumental in the creation of a netball program to provide opportunities for 40 young girls in Canowindra.
Now in its third year, the Australia Post One Netball Community Awards celebrate individuals, clubs and associations in local communities who go above and beyond to ensure everyone, regardless of background, skill or ability, is welcome in netball.
“Mandy is a such a worthy recipient of this award because she has created an opportunity for all the girls to be able to play the sport. She went off her own back and decided to put in so much hard work to provide them the opportunity and I think the smiles on their faces is a great indication she’s done a great job for Canowindra,” Australia Diamond Clare McMeniman said.
Mandy explained how thankful she is to be recognised by the Australia Post One Netball Community.
“It’s a great opportunity for the girls of Canowindra with Clare coming and playing some games and showing the girls some skills,” Mandy said.
“It’s very humbling to be recognised for just doing what you normally do with your kids. It’s great, the girls are loving it, the plan is to take a team over and do some stuff in Cowra next year because they’ve enjoyed it so much.”
Mandy received a $500 Australia Post Load and Go Visa Prepaid Gift Card for personal use, a $1,000 Australia Post Load and Go Visa Prepaid Gift Card for her netball club and a netball signed by the 2016 Australian Diamonds team.
