And the clan will be definitely ramping up their security another notch after a Californian judge acquitted Shavaughn McKenzie of stalking Kendall Jenner, with the jury consisting of seven women and five men convicting him with the lesser charge of trespassing on the star's secluded Hollywood home.

The verdict came after a seven-day trial in which Jenner took to the stand for an hour-long testimony, describing how she was "terrified" by McKenzie who was lurking in her driveway and banging on her car window in August.

Alarm bells rang for Jenner after Shavaughn, who was sitting with his head in his hands, refused to leave her property, resulting in the 20-year-old model calling her friends to help detain the accused before police could arrive. During her testimony the star also said she recognised McKenzie who had accosted her twice outside her mansion in Westwood. The Florida man has several other trespassing convictions unrelated to Jenner.

"I've never been so scared in my life," Jenner told the Los Angeles jury hearing the case against McKenzie.

The model added that she feared to return to her own estate, staying at a neighbour's home after the ordeal. "I really don't feel safe in my own house. I'm already the kind of person who's on edge."

Deputy city attorney Alex Perez noted that 25-year-old McKenzie had tracked the star's whereabouts for a 15-month period before his arrest, with the accused never revealing how he learnt Jenner had moved into the hilltop home tucked away from the street and only accessible after driving through a four-metre-high gate.

McKenzie's attorney Taylor Shramo however accused Perez of playing the celebrity card for Jenner and urged jurors to reject the charges, arguing that his client, who suffers from a mental disorder, was unarmed and was merely trying to talk to the model.

"He wants you to be star struck," Shramo told the jurors in relation to Perez's comments.

McKenzie's mother, June Osavio also told jurors that she had repeatedly tried to seek assistance for her son who refused to take his medications – but has called the verdict ''fair". A forensic psychiatrist who was hired to evaluate McKenzie also testified that efforts to locate Jenner was delusional and linked to his mental illness, with Sharmo also arguing that several experts repeatedly find that he did not have violent tendencies.

Jenner obtained a civil restraining order October 13 that requires McKenzie to stay away from her for five years. McKenzie faces up to a year in prison if convicted on November 10 of the lesser misdemeanour charge, but will likely be released on probation for displaying good behaviour.
