Touch Football starts on Monday with a social round of games to be played as a warm up to the competition proper. To date we have nine teams nominated, not all of which have returned their nomination form, with more teams expected before the competition starts.
PCYC will again run the Primary group (skills development) for younger children, the under 14 mixed competition and the open mixed competition with the Juniors at 5pm and the Opens from 6pm.
Games this week will be shorter than the regular competition, we will play 12 minute halves this Monday. We have four teams nominated for U14’s and nine for open division. With 9 teams nominated in the open division we will be hoping that (if a tenth team doesn’t arrive on Monday) a few energetic young people will be able to back up for a second game to ensure that everyone gets a warm up run.
The draw for Monday is:
5pm – Under 14s.
F1 Dream Team v Leroy’s Team, F2 NVUS v Lindy’s Team, F4 The Primary Group Skills and Drills Development Squad.
6pm – Open Division.
F1 Core Entertainment v Ben Core Electrical, F2 Cowra Carpet Cleaning v Bowling Club.
6.30 – Open Division
F1 Lachlan Valley Spreaders v Eye Spy Beauty, F2 White’s Panel v Hornets, F4 Railway Hotel v TBA.
Team nominations will close at 3pm on Wednesday, October 19 to enable the draw to be done and published in next Friday’s Cowra Guardian. Late nominations (if accepted) will attract a late nomination fee of $50 to cover the cost and time of re-doing the draw. Membership forms and playing fees will need to be finalised by round three (14 November). Players will not be eligible to play in round four on November 21 if their fees haven’t been paid or their membership form is outstanding.
Team nomination forms are available from PCYC’s Young Road building. Cost for the season is $40 for under 18s, $60 for ages 18 and older. The season will run from October through to March with a break for the Christmas/January School Holiday period. A couple of things to keep in mind. This is a seven-a-side competition with teams to have no more than five male players on the field at any one time, and each team will be required to do refereeing duty throughout the competition. This competition is not affiliated with Touch NSW so there is no player injury insurance.
