The second round of the club triples championship was played last Saturday.
Greg Nicholls, Brian McDonald and David Bryant played ‘Bugsy’ Howarth, Terry Peterswald and Michael Munn with David’s team leading 6-1 after three ends. Michael’s team drew level at seven all after six ends and then conceded only four more singles to take the match 25-11.
David Westwood, Mark Hubber (sub for Bruce Oliver) and Charlie Bryant led Kevin Webb, Bruce Holland and Shane Egan 14-1 after nine ends but Shane’s team won the next five ends to draw level at 14 all. Eleven shots over the next three ends put Charlie’s team back in command and they went on to win 29-19.
Peter Hamilton, Terry McGrath and Neville Connor had a great start against Alan Baker, Julian Petty and Alan Messiter, leading 12-4 after six ends and were never headed, going on to win 24-12.
The closest match of the day was between Trevor Pullen, Dave O’Donnell and Graham Amery against Nick Wass, Joe Burgin and Tom McSorley. The biggest margin of the game was four shots before they finished the regulation 21 ends tied at 16 all. Graham’s team won the extra end to earn a place in the semi-finals.
Listed Matches: The semi-finals of the Triples Championship will be played this Saturday October 15 at 1pm with Trevor Pullen, Dave O’Donnell and Graham Amery to play ‘Bugsy’ Howarth, Terry Peterswald and Michael Munn, and David Westwood, Bruce Oliver and Charlie Bryant to play Peter Hamilton, Terry McGrath and Neville Connor.
Forestville Flying Bowlers: October 15 we will host a visit from Forestville Flying Bowlers. There will be one game of bowls at 1pm. Bowlers have the option of playing bowls only $5, bowls plus lunch at a cost of $12 or bowls, lunch and dinner (set menu in the restaurant) at a cost of $32.
