The NSW Country Eagles will bring their National Rugby Championship (NRC) semi-final to the bush, after wrapping up a top four spot with a round to spare.

After having their round five clash against the Perth Spirit moved from Orange to Sydney’s Concord Oval at the 11th hour, NSW Country Eagles general manger Peter Playford said the franchise could consider a semi-final in the bush but was unable to confirm it happening.
Now, with final standings set to be decided in this weekend’s final regular season round of the NRC, the Eagles have finalised their plans for the semi-final, which will be played at Newcastle’s No.2 Sportsground rather than Tamworth as first thought.
On top of that, it’s been confirmed the franchise would consider playing the grand final – should they secure hosting rights – in the bush as well.
Venues in Mudgee, Orange, Bathurst and Tamworth, again, are said to be being considered.
“We want everyone out there to know we are committed to regional NSW, we will do everything we can to come back to Orange,” Playford said, just after it was confirmed his side’s round five game was being moved.
NSW Country plays the Western Sydney Rams in this weekend’s final round, at Concord Oval.
