Murphy played a huge influence in the side’s success throughout the season, bouncing back from two early defeats before the slipping out of finals contention in the final week of the regular rounds.
The best and fairest three, two, one points are generally judged by a member of the crowd each week.
Eagles 2016 coach Troy Hayes said Murphy was a clear winner.
“I didn’t actually see the numbers but he took it out pretty comfortably I think,” Hayes said.
“He was always one of the standouts each week and consistently worked hard.”
Jack Duffy, Matt Spicer and Tom Dewhurst all shared the players’ player award for their efforts during the season.
The Eagles will be without both recruits, Duffy and Spicer, next year as well Adam Higgins and also Dan Burnham who has played two seasons in the red and white.
Hayes says the “imports” have been a great asset to the club during their time in Cowra.

“They’ve been really good, if you could have a team them it’d be great. And it’s not only on the field, off the field they have been more than happy to help the club.”
Further major prize winners were Alex Webster and Tanielle Michael who were joint Jack Berry award recipients. Hayes added that club is looking to begin a process of forming the Eagles into a Blowes Clothing Cup force.
While admitting the introduction of players from overseas is crucial in competing in the top tier, he says the club has to look at boosting junior numbers.
“We want to sit down and try and rebuild the Cowra Rugby Club,” Hayes said. “I’d like to make a five year plan. “We have to start from somewhere, not having 13s, 15s and 17s is making it hard. It’s something we need to look at and try and get back.”
While the men’s grades couldn’t come away with any silverware this year, the women’s side won the Central West competition defeating Mudgee 22-7 in decider.
