Saturday saw the fifth and final qualifying round of the Handiskins competition at the Cowra Golf Club for 2016. Winning the bottle of Peter Lehman Shiraz and Leuk the Duck woodcover for the best score of the day was Dave Thomas with 40 points on a countback from up and coming junior Matt Thompson. As a consolation prize Matt has qualified for the final which will be held on Sunday, October 9.

The top four saw two new faces make an appearance thanks to their final rounds. Matt Thompson made a big move into second place with his score of 40 points to finish second behind Dave Leister who had a great three qualifying scores already.
Third place is where Craig Jeffries finished after two brilliant scores and a solid third and playing just his third qualifying round, Wally Webb had 34 points to go with his two 38 point rounds to sneak into 4th place by two points.
Dave, Matt, Craig and Wally will all play for $1200 worth of club and pro shop vouchers in the club final on Sunday, October 9.

The four have also qualified for the National Handiskins Final to be held on the Gold Coast next year.

Saturday the Cowra Golf Club held a Stableford Event sponsored by Holman Place School. Thank you to Peter Bryson and the staff at Holman Place for the great work they do within our community.
On a great day for golf we saw 63 players take to the fairways and enjoy some rare warm dry weather.
Some great scores were had including scores of the day 40 points to both David Thomas and junior Matt Thompson.
A couple of very late scores also found their way into placings at the last minute.
A Grade-
1st - David Thomas 40 points, 2nd - Dave Withers 38 points, 3rd - Gary Dolbel 37 points C/B.
B Grade-
1st - Matt Thompson 40 points, 2nd - Harold Bryant 39 points, 3rd - Yakka Myers 37 points.

Last Thursday we had 12 players take to the fairways for the midweek pro competition. Terry Winwood-Smith and Neil Hayes both scored themselves 36 points with Terry winning the countback to take victory. Balls went to 34 points on a count back in the rundown.
In the 9 hole vets event Neil Hayes, Dave Thomas and Terry Winwood-Smith all tied on 13 points. Neil was the lucky winner on a countback over Dave and Terry. Vouchers went to 11 points in difficult scoring conditions.
Once again Wednesday golf has been washed out so fingers crossed next Wednesday we will see some of our lady golfers on the course.
This coming Saturday sees the Holden Scramble held at the Cowra Golf Club for 2016. This is an invitational event this year in which our professional Matt Docking is only allowing Cowra members to play along with some invited guests. For your chance to win a trip to Queensland to play in the National Final then get your team of 4 together and secure your tee time for this long running event.

Ladies’ golf
Once again the Cowra Golf Course was closed due the heavy rain last Wednesday 21 st September.
The second and final round of The Mrs Ben Jones Par will now be held next week in conjunction with 18 Holes Stroke round and the Min Brien GNSW Medal Playoff.
Also it will the 9th Hanna and Veterans point score.
Trophies for the 18 Hole Stroke event will be sponsored by Carmel Mansell and Anne Coates.
Players for the Min Brien GNSW Playoff are Carmel Mansell, Anne Coates, Annette Sutherland, Marcia Ryan, Sue Miller, Jenny Dresser, Cheryl McKeown, Jo Bush, Jenny Armstrong, Jan Luce, Lorraine Stubbing and Carole Doyle.
The Annual General Meeting of the Cowra Ladies Golfers will be held on Wednesday 26th October 2016 after the days competition and presentation. Elections of Office, nominations forms are on the notice board in the Ladies Room at the Golf Club.
