Mount McDonald RFS Captain Peter Cameron said the weekend was important for keeping residents prepared for the future fire season and that due to the wet winter the region had received the coming fire season may be late.
“Thanks to the rain we have received the coming season will be a bad one and will come late. Residents will need to be on the look out for late season plant growth.”
Captain Cameron said that fire plans should be prepared now and there were a number of ways the public could be kept informed.
“Check Canobolas Rural Fire Zone on 6363 6666, Fires Near Me app, the RFS website, local TV, radio, newspapers, facebook and twitter,” he said.
