The under 14s had a difficult year and the club will be looking to address some issues to strengthen all aspects of this most important grade.
Thanks to all players and parents for their efforts through the season.
The best and fairest vote couldn’t have been tighter with young Connor Munroe with 14 votes just outlasting Ella Roberts who finished on 11.
Both look likely to have great futures in the game.
Others to poll well included Jayden Williams, Luke Kinsey, Blake Williams and Chris Gibb.
For his efforts through the season including making the representative team, Chris Gibb took out the most consistent trophy.
On the other hand, the under 12s had a remarkable season taking out the premiership.
Marc Hyland and helpers deserve a lot of the credit, and the entire season can be used as a model for the club for future planning.
The vote count was again closely contested.
Jake Roberts, Shakaila Reid and Connor Munroe were among the top three from the outset.
Jake and Shakaila were joint leaders prior to the final game, with Connor six votes behind.
Connor picked up two best on grounds meaning six votes, Jake scored four votes while Shak couldn’t add to her tally.
Jake was best and fairest on 34, while Connor and Shakaila equal runner up on 30.
Jayden Williams, Craig Johnson and Braydon Hyland also polled strongly.
In other awards, Djakai Reid was named most consistent, Lachlan Ballard received the most improved trophy, Jayden Williams won the most potential and Craig Johnson received the coach’s award.
Blake Graham received the encouragement award for his efforts both on and off the field.
Marc’s initiative of awarding rep players with their playing jumpers was fantastic.
Ros Hill and Rachel Hyland received the GWS Giants junior clubperson awards.
Coach Marc Hyland and captain Djakai Reid were given the rare privilege of unfurling their premiership flag, and the team song on the stage at the Services Club was outstanding.
Many thanks to the team’s sponsors, especially the Cowra Services Club and Eagle Boys Pizza.
Hopefully the seniors can repeat the effort next weekend.
The senior Blues will host either the Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws or Rebels at Mulyan Oval in the Central West AFL grand final on September 10, following Saturday’s preliminay final.
