Shani usually hosts workshops in Sydney and is also busy preparing for a joint exhibition with Sydney artist Fiona Chandler.
However, due to the overwhelming positive response to her first creative workshops here in Cowra a few months ago, and lots of requests for more, she has organised a day of watercolour this weekend in Cowra, at the Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre.
Shani is running a basic watercolour workshop in the morning, and an abstract watercolour class in the afternoon.
Neither of the classes require any experience with watercolour, and there is no need to bring anything as all materials are supplied.
Asked why she enjoys teaching watercolour, Shani says it is just for the joy of sharing her passion and love of watercolour, and the thrill of seeing how people produce beautiful work.
She thinks the reason these workshops are proving so popular is because people are longing to get back in touch with their creative side, and are looking for ways to relax that does not involve a screen.
The feedback she receives from her workshops are consistently positive, with many telling her that they have found a creativity that was dormant for many years.
A recent participant wrote to her…"A huge thank you for an amazing watercolour workshop on Saturday at Little Lane Workshops. You inspired me to open my "cupboard of curisitories" and I found 10 pads of watercolor paper, watercolour pencils, gouche, pans of watercolour and about 15 brushes!!! Spent yesterday afternoon "playing" and reconnecting with Art which I haven't taken the time to do since having my son, two and a half years old - thank you.”
“The Education Centre is the perfect place for these workshops, and we are lucky to have a venue like this in Cowra. Holding these here also helps to support local business,” Shani said.
You can buy tickets online at the rare pear workshops or rare pear Facebook page, or contact Shani on 0403304631.
All tickets include the workshop, admission to the Gardens, tea, coffee and nibbles, take-away information packs and all materials.
