The aim of the information day is to give people an opportunity to meet with program consultants.
Attendees also have the opportunity to learn about the various training and employment opportunities Skillset provide through programs such as Skills 4 Trade, Skillset Youth Connect, Skillset Workforce and the Safer Driver Course.
Every year since its inception in 2011, National Skills Week has recognised, celebrated and informed Australians about the diversity, benefits and career pathways associated with Vocational Education and Training (VET).
This year local provider Skillset is using the week to showcase the range of education, workforce and environment programs they offer that contribute to skills development and community sustainability across the region.
Information sessions will be held in towns across the Central West during the week to allow individuals to hear about a range of opportunities to engage with training, upskilling, industry and employment pathways.
These include:
· Skillset Youth Connect – free advice, support and case management for 15-19 year olds currently not in school, work or training.
· Skills 4 Trade – a free 10 week multi industry pre apprenticeship program for 15-24 year olds interested in a trade career.
· Skillset Safer Driver Course – 20 log book hours and safer driving skills with this 5 hour Roads and Maritime Services course for L Platers.
· Skillset Green Army – up to 6 months training and employment with environment teams
Organisations who are interested in learning about working in partnership with Skillset to offer training, employment and work experience opportunities to young people locally are also invited to come along.
The Information Session will be held in Cowra at 1pm on Tuesday August 30 at the TAFE Hub.
Skillset started out as Central West Group Apprentices in 1982.
In the 15 years from 2000 they have successfully completed 3078 apprentices in their nominated trade.
