A 49 year-old woman had been using drugs since she was 18 years of age was fined $150 for possession when she appeared in the Cowra Local Court on July 20.

Local Court magistrate Peter Dare convicted the woman, Sharon Lee Atkinson, of Reg Hailstone Way when she appeared before him.
Solicitor Clive Hill told the court his client had been using cannabis since she was 18, mainly as an “anger stabiliser”.
“She’s subject to going off half cocked for no particular reason,” Mr Hill said.
“Doctors haven’t been able to subscribe anything for it.
“She also has knee pain and says it helps with that as well.
“The cannabis is for personal use, growing it at home, not supplying or contributing to the drug trade in any way.
“Hers is not a heavy habit but its been constant over the years,” Mr Hill said.
According to police they attended Atkinson’s residence shortly before 5.10pm on Tuesday, March 15 for an unrelated matter and discovered cannabis when leaving.
The plant was growing in a fenced vegetable garden.
Atkinson admitted to police the plant was hers.
The plant was approximately 60cm high.
Asked if there were any other plants she took police to another part of the property where there was a one metre high plant growing. in tall grass.
Atkinson told police this plant belonged to someone else.
Damage Property charge
Mackenzie Lawrence Baxter was placed on a 12 month bond when he appeared on a charge of destroying or damaging property.
Baxter was charged with the offence following an incident about 2am on July 9.
According to police Baxter verbally abused the victim and then took the victim’s phone and through it against the wall on at least two occasions.
Baxter, 19, of Middle Street Cowra, also punched a hole in a section of plasterboard and then punched an internal door causing another hole. He then also damaged a glass sliding door.
