A fierce storm ripped through Cowra on Friday afternoon leaving a path of destruction and forcing the rescue of a motorist who attempted to drive through flood waters on Tarrants Gap Road.

The man was released from hospital on Saturday morning.
Officially the town received abut 36mm but reports of up to 100mm of rain have been received.
