Leroy Murray is showing plenty of promise during his young rugby league career, his latest achievement being selection into the NSW PSSA No.1 side.

Leroy, 12, was initially selected in a 34-player NSW squad which was then split into two side’s – NSW No.1 and NSW Invitational.
Leroy was one of two Western Region players to make the state’s No.1 side, along with Orange’s Teriri Maxwell, who will now compete at the PSSA National Championships in Canberra from July 30 to August 6.
NSW are pitted against QLD, QLD Invitaitonal and NSW Invitational in Pool A, while Victoria, WA, ACT and Northern Territory contest Pool B.
Leroy said he’s expecting to start from the bench for the Championships opener against QLD No.1, from there he’ll be introduced to the game at either halfback, five-eight or hooker.
Each game consists of two, 20 minute halves.
Teams are scheduled to play one game each day with a rest day on Wednesday before finals on Saturday, August 6.
Leroy thanked his six Mulyan Public School teammates for their support, while playing alongside him at Western Region, and also mentioned his uncle Albert Murray whose had a big influence on his development throughout the year.
Leroy also thanked Cowra Council, Cowra Junior Rugby League, Cowra Senior Rugby League, Cowra Carpet Cleaning, Thompson’s Irrifabs, Nick Armstrong and Dave Elvy and all raffle ticket buyers for their support.
The PSSA National Championships begin on Sunday, July 30 with NSW No.1 locking horns with QLD No.1 at 2pm.
