A Short Street residence has been destroyed by fire after it caught alight last night.

Police say the fire started between 9:15pm and 9:25pm on July 5.
At 9.15pm, the occupant of the house awoke to smoke filling the premises.
Police and NSW Fire and Rescue attended the scene.
Inspector Adam Beard from Cowra Police said there were no injuries during the incident.
“Upon arrival, the house was well alight and it took some time for NSW Fire and Rescue to extinguish the flames,” he said.
“Police inquiries are continuing into the cause of the fire and no persons were injured.”
Inspector Beard said the cause of the fire was unknown at this stage.
“In relation to this matter, detectives are investigating the cause of the fire and reviewing the possibility of finding forensic evidence,” he said.
“There was no obvious cause to the fire.”
