Last Monday at a special meeting, the membership came together to decide if now was the time to trial a change to the keeping rules.
In the past once a male player reached the age of 17 he was restricted from keeping.
This was a valid rule at the time of combining both men’s and women’s competitions some years back, but clearly Monday’s decision showed a feeling that Cowra Hockey has developed since that time and people were willing to make some changes.
As a result, men will be able to keep for the remaining season, with a vote in 2017 to determine whether the rule change becomes permanent.
Also a reminder that there will be a school holiday clinic for under 12s at Bathurst on Wednesday, July 6.
If players would like more information, please see the Facebook site or check out the flyer at the canteen, or go to https://developclinics.eventdesq.com.
Also, even though the weather has been a little foul, hockey has continued at the region level with Western Region girl’s team playing in Albury.
Well done to Kara Hinderager for representing Western Region and Cowra through Mulyan Public.
Also a reminder that Justin Smith is taking orders for jackets and hoodies to keep warm and improve the profile of Cowra Hockey.
Justin will be putting an order in on the 27th, so give him a call, or leave a comment on the Facebook post.
For those keen to play Young on Sunday, please make contact with either Di Clark (women) on 0437908495 or Justin Smith (men) on 0411244089, or simply put your name on a comment on the Facebook page.
