But for those brave enough to venture into the cold, will be treated with a special event in the nights sky, Mars our closest celestial neighbour was in opposition with Earth over the weekend and it's closest approach will start tonight Monday, May 30.
The closet approach to earth in 11 years.
During opposition, Mars and the Sun are on directly opposite sides of Earth creating a perfect viewing opportunity of the red planet.
The planet will be so bright during its approach that it will be visible to the naked eye.
Mark Monk from the Darbys Falls Observitory said there wasn't a better time to look at Mars.
"Opposition is a good time to look at Mars, through a telescope you'll be able to make out marks on the surface and the polar ice caps."
"Mars will be bright red, with Saturn underneath it and Jupiter to the west."
"It (Mars) will be at the head of Scorpio, towards the centre of the galaxy, we're in prime position located 34 degrees south while the centre of the galaxy is 31 degrees south."
"Those in the northern hemisphere around Canada will see the centre for about two weeks, where we will be able to see it for about four months," he said.
Don't worry if you miss the closest approach on Monday the planet will appear at it's brightest until June 3 and will provide a good chance to view it for at least two weeks.
If you're not up for finding Mars yourself why not book a viewing at Darbys Falls Observitory and let the astronomers will show you around the night sky.
The next mars close approach will be around June/July 2018.
