The SOTY committee recently confirmed this year's guest speaker as former World Champion lawn bowler Steve Glasson.
Glasson is regarded as a down to earth sporting hero, with plenty of stories to tell and a remarkable ability to engage with audiences.
The committee is highly anticipating his appearance following a great night last year with beach volleyball Olympic gold medallist Kerri Pottharst.
Currently nine of Cowra's most talented sports people are in the running for this year's coveted prize with still another three monthly award winners to be decided.
As preparations gather momentum, the committee is asking for nominations for this year's Bob Barr Memorial Award and also nominations for the Barry Doyle Team of the Year.
The Bob Barr Memorial Award is presented each year, recognising a member of the community for their services to sport.
If there is someone in your sport who you think is a worthy recipient of the services to sport award, e-mail peter.guthrie@fairfaxmedia.com.au.
Team of the Year nominations can be sent to the same address.
The 2015-2016 Cowra Sportspower Sportsperson of the Year presentation night will be held on Saturday, July 16.
