Lewis won three consecutive bouts to secure the gold medal, and his sixth Australian title.
The 21-year-old's focus is now on landing a top three rank at the Asia Olympic qualifying event next year, and booking a ticket on the plane to Rio in August.
"I've had some bad luck, the Commonwealth Games getting a cut, the World Championships was a bit of an average decision. I feel like 2016 is going to be my year," Lewis said when speaking with Boxing Australia after the final bout on Sunday.
"I had to win here, this goes to the Asian qualifiers where you must rank in the top three in Asia, that's a big task.
"You have to perform here and Asia and the Olympic Games is yours, it's definitely a tough road."
Fighting in the 75 kilogram division, Lewis was dealt a tough championship opener in Victoria's Campbell Sommerville.
Friday afternoon's sweltering conditions didn't phase the New South Welshman, though, who won the points decision after a hard fought battle.
The man known as Dropbombs then accounted for Blake Wells in the semi-final, before a clinical performance in the gold-medal bout against young Queenslander, and former junior world champion, Clay Waterman.
"Last nationals I drew him first up and it was the toughest one of all three so I knew I was coming into a tough fight tonight," Lewis said before talking about the progress he's making.
"I've got more boxing brain to my style now, I used to just come forward with my guard up and cop a bit of punishment but I'm definitely smarter now, I'm still learning every fight."
