But inconvenient aircraft noise will no longer be a problem for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, after the British government passed aviation regulations declaring that the space above their residence will be a no-fly zone.

The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Anmer Hall) (Restricted Zone EG R220) Regulations 2015 were passed last week, and restrict air travel over the couple's Norfolk property, Anmer Hall.

"These regulations impose restrictions on flying in the vicinity of Anmer Hall, Norfolk," an explanatory note accompanying the regulations reads.

"In view of the need for security for the members of the royal family staying at, or visiting Anmer Hall and at the request of the security services, the Secretary of State considers that flying should be restricted in the vicinity of that location."

According to the regulations, no aircraft is to fly "below 2000 feet above mean sea level within the area bounded by a circle having a radius of 1.5 nautical miles whose centre is at 525003N 0003447E [the house on the property]".

There are some exceptions to the regulations, notably emergency services craft (such as the East Anglian Ambulance helicopters Prince William flies for work) and those flying in service of the Queen's Helicopter Flight.

The regulations will come in to force on November 1.

William and Kate received Anmer Hall as a wedding present from the Queen.

The Georgian property, which is part of the royal family's Sandringham estate, was refurbished before their arrival to add a conservatory and an updated kitchen. A tree-planting program was also undertaken to increase privacy on the estate.

Earlier this year, plans were approved for a £60,000 AstroTurf tennis court to be built on the estate.

Although it was originally intended to be the couple's country residence, William and Kate seem to have chosen to reside at Anmer Hall full-time, raising their two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

As a result, privacy in the area has become a priority.

When the family returned to the property with newborn Princess Charlotte earlier this year, a three-paragraph letter was handed out by police officials in the surrounding towns instructing media to grant the family their "more than reasonable expectation of privacy".

In August, Kensington Palace took it one step further by publishing an open letter to the media, explaining that photographers attempting to capture pictures of Prince George playing at his home and in public parks had hidden in the (private) woodlands of the Sandringham estate and even tried to lure the two-year-old with other children.

"Paparazzi photographers are going to increasingly extreme lengths to observe and monitor Prince George's movements and covertly capture images of him to sell to the handful of international media still willing to pay for them," the letter read.

"A line has been crossed and any further escalation in tactics would represent a very real security risk."
