On the last day of the Convention Vice District Governor Tony was stripped of his VDG ribbon and took the Oath of Office as District Governor of one of the largest areas in the world.
Tony attended the convention with wife Judy and which saw the end of a very long journey to his new office.
To become a district Governor a Lion must have served as a president of their own club, served on zone and district boards and cabinet, elected as 2nd and then 1st Vice District Governor, all of which over a period of some five years in total.
Tony's year as District Governor will see him travelling to clubs in a huge area stretching from the Blue Mountains to Tumbarumba, Wagga, north west to Bourke and north to Coonabarabran. Tony's theme for his time as DG is Fun, Friendship and Service.
"I have seen the very positive effects in our own club of making sure that we enjoy each other's company and have fun while working to serve others with humanity and dignity. I also have a personal commitment raising funds for the Lions Childhood Cancer Foundation. It is hard work but I love it!"
At a recent meeting President of Cowra Lions George Ridley expressed the club's admiration for Tony and his commitment to achieving this role and the support given to him by Judy in his very long journey to become the District Governor, the first ever from Cowra Lions.
