The team, affectionately known as the B2B's (bush to beach) consisted of 12 PCYC gymnasts aged between 12 and 20 years of age.
Kim Grinter was the Cowra based organiser for the project and is excited to share news from the project.
"We were lucky to have the choreography brilliance of Coach Penny Schubert," she said.
"The team was chaperoned by me and 4 parents. We also had the support of the infamous supernan Sandy."
The teams worked hard training for the event and would like to thank the Cowra PCYC for the use of their bus to get them to sessions.
"Training for this event began in September last year.
"The team was a dedicated and committed bunch, travelling to Springwood every third weekend. "
"Our hard work was rewarded with performances in Cowra, and the GymNSW Gala show in Gosford, and then of course the pinnacle of gymnastics for all the World Gymnaestrada."
The gymnaestrada had more than 22000 athletes from 50 countries, and five continents.
"The opening ceremony had all the vibrancy, colour and excitement to that of an Olympic Games," Ms Grinter said.
It was a busy time for the gymnasts after touch down.
"The first three days of our gymnaestrada adventure consisted of a training camp for the whole Australian team.
"The Australian team had 230 delegates, consisting of 12 gymnastics clubs from NSW, SA, WA and QLD.
"The camp allowed time for us to recover from travel, practise our routines and bond as a team."
The overall theme for the event was make the earth move.
"The B2B's routine told a story of travelling to experience other cultures and lifestyles.
"The story was also a reflection of the great land we come from and the people who contribute to it.
"This reflection was evident in other Australian performances, which was useful because we shared a 15 minute time slot with another club from Australia.
"We were grouped with PCYC Taree's Gymaroo's. Our performances proved that distance has no boundaries in terms of friendship and teamwork."
A lot of hard work went into the project over many months to ensure the B2Bs were prepared to represent their country well.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank PCYC Cowra, particularly Shane Budge, for the support given to the team in assisting us to participate in this extraordinary event.
"It was an amazing opportunity to have been a part of this event, and wearing the green and gold made us feel very proud."
Ms Grinter hopes to attend the next World Gymnaestrada with a team of Cowra gymnasts in four years time.
