The Blues were hugely impressive in front of goal kicking seven majors before even registering a behind in the 24.10 (154) to 13.11 (89) win.
Cowra Blues coach Steve Boyd praised the efforts of his entire side and was impressed with the Blues’ goals to behinds ratio.
“It is a pleasing aspect for sure, we’ll take that any day,” Cowra coach Steve Boyd said.
“It was a really good team effort, I’m really pleased.”
Cowra shot out to 42-19 lead in the opening quarter, after the visitors put two early goals passed the Blues.
But goals to Geoff Day and Nick Collett calmed the hosts’ nerves before Zac Brunton snapped a goal on quarter time to give the Blues all the momentum.
The trend continued into the second stanza with the Blues extending the lead to 42 at the main break.
Dubbo lifted in the third, as did the intensity of the game, but Cowra still managed six goals as the radars of Nathan Worth, Frank Bright and Kim Reid weren’t missing.
The Demons’ effort couldn’t be faulted with the visitors throwing all they had at Cowra in the final moments of their 2015 campaign.
Dubbo captain Mick Daly was disappointed with his side bowing out in the first final but is looking forward to next year’s two tier competition.
“I think it’ll be good, it gives us the opportunity to play sides like Young and Parkes.
“We just have to find ways to win games,” he said.
Boyd was quick to turn the focus to this weekend against Bathurst, who were knocked out by Orange in the major semi-final, and is hopeful for an upset.
“We’ll be playing Bathurst next week, we do have a few injury issues but I think all teams have that at the moment.
“Anything can happen, we’re only one win away from the grand final. You have to win to give yourself a chance, and we did that today,” he said.
Cowra Blues 24.10 (154) defeated Dubbo Demons 13.11 (89).
