But it's those thoughtful touches that set Cowra's Vineyard Motel apart and netted it a rare encouragement award in the Hosted Accommodation category at the 2015 Travel In Inland Tourism Awards.
Attendees from across New South Wales and Victoria gathered together at the Broken Hill Civic Centre on July 25 for the 'night of nights' of the inland regional tourism industry.
Third time proved to be a charm for the boutique motelier - after two years of entering the awards, they finally came home with an accolade.
"Just to enter is a lot of work and to be a finalist is a really big deal, and to find that I got the encouragement award as well, which meant I was within a hair's breath of winning, I thought that was really something," owner Wendy-Jane Saywaker said.
"It's a very prestigious award and they had more submissions this year than they've ever had. They had to put on 35 judges instead of 15 so here were a lot of people in the awards system and for us to be a finalist again is just amazing."
This is the fourth award the motel has taken out this year alone - they were also awarded the 2015 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2015 (rated on average 4.5/5 by guests); the TripAdvisor Bravo Award (ranked "Excellent" 5/5 by over 100 guests; as well as being a finalist in the 2015 Travel In Inland Tourism Awards.
Mrs Saywaker said they focus on providing good, old-fashioned country hospitality to everyone who walks through the door.
They often sit out on the verandah and have a cup of tea or a glass of vino with those lodging for the night.
Even canine travelling companions aren't forgotten - the motel has special bowls and treats for four-legged friends.
"We have this motto, 'enter as strangers, leave as friends', and people do. It happens," Mrs Saywaker said.
"We genuinely care about our guests and true hospitality. It's homely, it's not flash, it's not corporate, it's friendly and nothing is a problem.
"We get wonderful guests and they're very easy to enjoy."
The Vineyard Motel wasn't the only accommodation provider in the central west to bring home an accolade.
The Lakeview Luxury Cabins in Orange took out the Hosted Accommodation category, while Canowindra's Old Vic Inn Historic Guesthouse took home the top gong in Standard Accommodation.
Girragirra Retreat in Forbes was awarded silver in New Tourism Business.
The central west also proved to be a hotbed for great visitor experiences.
Parkes Elvis Festival took out the Festivals and Events category, while Ferment in Orange scored silver for Specialised Tourism Services.
Bathurst Visitor Information Centre also received a win in the Visitor Information Services category.
Cowra Tourism manager Belinda Virgo said it's a great result for all of central NSW.
"Central NSW offers visitors an unforgettable journey ranging from quaint villages to world class attractions. It is fantastic to see tourism operators from around the region receiving the recognition that they deserve," she said.
"The Vineyard Motel Cowra have been offering a quality tourism [accommodation] for many years and it is fantastic to see that they have been recognised for this via their recent INTA award."
