Half a Million! I don’t know if it is worth it or not, but the Cowra Show experience has changed drastically and disappointingly for Nev and me, and many of the older generation I would think, since the Grandstand went off limits.
The Grandstand was a place to rest and catch up with friends ... really a big part of going to the Show.
In times gone by, Tuesday was a general look around - kids enjoying the rides, a close look at the Pavilion, and down to the Grandstand to watch wood-chopping and the horse events and later the fireworks when they were on Tuesday night.
Wednesdays were mostly spent in the Grandstand area watching the horse events and the wood chopping apart from going for a walk to check out the animals and chooks. Even a Grand Parade in the older days. We really miss that experience.
Yes, there is another grandstand, but for some reason, not much to look at going on in the ring. However, the steep steps have to be first negotiated and we spend some time there but not many others join us. Guess the steps will soon be too much for us too.
Half a million... I don’t know, but we miss the Grandstand.
