The theme from the night was "A Royal Affair" and was hosted by the Cowra Magpies Rugby League.
The Ball commiittee did a fantastic job of setting the scene for A Royal Affair and even included a giant silver throne (kindly donated by Inside Out). Nikki Kurtz, Donna Thompson, Lisa Gilmore and Jayarna Cook did a fantastic job of making individual crown and pom pom table settings for each table and they also created a giant balloon crown for the stage.
It all looked wonderful and helped create a royal atmosphere. These ladies did so much to help organise the event this year and we hope they are looking forward to staying on board for years to come.
Lisa Flanagan was the choreographer for the event and her talents and expertise lead to a fabulous routine performed by all the debutantes and their partners.
One guest who has been involved in the ball since 1995 said the routine was one of the best she had seen.
The partners started the night by entering to a Queen medley, followed by the Debutantes who performed a fairytale ballet routine which lead into Queen of the Night by Whitney Houston. Our Flower Girl Ava Broad and Page Boy Rylee Frazer, came in and performed a delightful routine to I Just Cant Wait To Be King (from the movie Lion King).
Mrs Nellie Connor was the compere for the evening and the debutantes were introduced and presented to our special guest Cowra Shire Council General Manager Paul Devery and his lovely wife Carolyn.
The 17 debutantes were absolutely beautiful and Mr and Mrs Devery were very pleased to receive the debutantes of the 2015 Black & White Ball.
Each year the Cowra Magpies raise money through the ball to donate to a local charity. This year we donated to the Hands Up for Headspace Campaign and Liz Reynolds (youth counsellor) and Mike Holloway (campaign director) were in attendance to gratefully receive the donation.
Following the presentation the Debutantes and their partners danced to Guy Sebastian’s "Tonight Again" before asking their parents to join them on the dance floor for the first dance of the night to The Temptations’ "My Girl"
It was an extremely enjoyable night and the entertainment provided by DJ Dukey kept everyone dancing until midnight. Supper was provided for the guests by Geoffrey Steele and his wife Nancy Steele and Tommy Jeffs.
Thankyou once again to Jane Jeffries and her husband Brett Jeffries for dedicating their time to organise another wonderful community event.
