How impressed were the members when Cathryn cooked before us her No Bake Slice, using just the microwave and the fridge at the Multipurpose room, the venue where Cowra Inner Wheel Club members meet on the third Monday of every month.
As Cathryn mixed the ingredients she likened the preparation to what can happen in our lives. The crushed biscuits represent times when we ourselves can feel crushed by some event or some relationship.
As the melted butter was poured onto the crushed biscuits to form the base of the slice, Major Cathryn remarked that melted butter reminds us that there are times which ‘melt our heart’ with joy or sadly a meltdown when there is anger and tears, both similar to times we can experience in our lives.
Then there was added sweetened condensed milk and chocolate, yummy ingredients that are similar to the sweetness that we receive from someone, maybe a letter or even a smile. Assembling all these ingredients in layers together we have a product that we all want to enjoy, just as life can be enjoyed.
Finally we watched the professional presentation of the finished product and enjoyed its sensational taste .
Attention to detail has won many, many prizes in shows for Major Cathryn. This success encouraged her to compile a slice cookbook ‘2 Thumbs Up’ which has been launched in Cowra and which Cowra Inner Wheel members were keen to purchase.
All proceeds are being donated to Salvation Army Women’s project for 2015.
A donation to the Salvation Army was presented to Major Cathryn by Cowra Inner Wheel President Anne Holloway and Jenny Kelly gave the Vote of Thanks.
The next event for Cowra Inner Wheel Club will be the Annual Changeover at the Japanese Garden Restaurant on Monday, July 13 at 12 noon.
President Anne Holloway will give her annual report and induct Diane Walsh as President for 2015-16.
