To Mayor and Councillors,
I strongly object to the subdivision of the Olive Grove.
I have lived in Lyall Street for well over twenty years.
I have personally witnessed what floods do.
When huge problems in the area are far from being fixed why would you even think about approving further development?
You can tell me all you like that there are conditions put in place for there to be no problems, it's too late after the disaster has occurred. Here are some huge concerns that I have.
* Rather than putting more pressure on the existing infrastructure, fixing the problems that already exist should take top priority.
* Better maintenance issues should be of more importance.
* What happens when the drainage blocks up, it will bank up and cause even more flood water to cause even more problems.
* I hope the drainage is better designed than it is in our street, only one culvert is in place for the whole street to drain water away.
* Ray Walsh was the only councillor who bothered to come and talk to me when the floods were on.
After everything is done and dusted where is the council's duty of care?
Laugh at my letter if you like but how many councillors have had to actually deal with what the west Cowra residents have had to deal with for many years? West Cowra residents pay rates the same as everyone else, sometimes I wonder what for.
Yours truly,
Christine Norton.
