The moment the band - Phil & Esther - began playing and singing the old songs of the era, the dance floor was never empty. If not dancing, the guests were winning prizes galore with a Lucky Seat prize, Monte Carlo contests, True or False questions testing their Gallipoli knowledge and Toss the Coin games of skill.

The 1914-styled photo nook was kept busy and each couple were able to take home their photo - thanks to the marvels of instant printing!

The band assisted in choosing the best-dressed male and female and quite fittingly, a wounded digger and a Red Cross nurse took those prizes!

Among all the local and district attendees, were the Cowra New Vogue dancers and several ex-Woodstock people, so socialising was a great part of the night.

The Hall has a marvellous stage backdrop of a painted rural Woodstock scene and our resident air-brush artist Dermott Rodwell had created the finest field of poppies that were placed in front of the backdrop. He also created the banner over the stage and the vision that greeted the arriving visitors attracted great praise. Those decorations remained in place for the ANZAC Day Commemorations.

The major prize of 7 days accommodation at the Moorings Resort at Tomakin, Bateman's Bay was won by Lisa Jeffries of Cowra.

A great range of donated gifts were available as prizes on the night and a very grateful committee received substantial extra donations from many of those who attended to further assist in the Hall restoration and care. Thank you to all those involved in those donations.

The evening was a massive success and plans are already underway for the next dance.

The Hall Committee would like to give their warmest thanks to all who attended on the night with extra mention to those who travelled great distances, to all who supported the fund-raising through their help, support and enthusiasm during the organising weeks, and to the future use of our Hall as the revitalised community centre of Woodstock.
