Buoyed by their performance at the annual Oberon rugby league carnival last weekend, the Magpies teams enter the season knowing that they will be competitive throughout 2015.
Volunteers
Clubs such as Cowra Junior Rugby League could not function without the incredible support from our junior league community and we look forward to their invaluable contribution in the season ahead.
It is encouraged that parents/carers help out in morning setup 7am, canteen, ground managing, touch judging and packing up after games. CJRL had 250 registered players last year and we are expecting another busy year. Many hands make light work and it is a good way to meet fellow parents/carers and model strong community spirit for the young ones.
Qualifications
All coaches, water runners, referees and sports trainers are expected to have completed relevant NRL accredited courses. These can be completed online and the CJRL assists in the funding of these. For information regarding accreditation speak to a committee member who will be able to point you in the right direction.
Code of Conduct
Thankfully, we are not playing at Penrith where there will be security guards to deal with any unwarranted behaviour.
However, it is a timely reminder to spectators that CJRL will not tolerate unacceptable behaviour. Code of conduct signs align our ground with expectations for those that want to cast their eye over our young sporting talent.
In simple terms, remember the kids love their footy win or lose and they are not playing in the State Of Origin (yet).
Season draw
The U13, 14, 15 and 16s play in the Group 10 competition. The draw is on the group 10 website and parents are advised to check this regularly as game times may change.
All other age groups will begin their season on Saturday, May 2 following the school holidays.
Canteen Roster
Parents/carers are required to help out with canteen.
Most families have nominated two dates and are required to do an hour to help out on each occasion. Thankyou in advance to our very supportive parents/carers.
Please check the roster regularly for your shift. Unfortunately, the canteen will be forced shut if helpers do not turn up and CJRL will forgo the money generated from our major fundraiser which will have a devastating effect on our ability to function effectively as a club.
IF YOU CANNOT HELP OUT ON THE NOMINATED DATE please arrange someone to take your place. It is not up to the Canteen Manager to cover or find a replacement.
Canteen roster this weekend:
9-10am – Christine Clarke, Harry Williams
10-11am – Karen Harper, Jan Harper
11-12pm – Kylie Cannard, Jodie Dunn
12-1pm – David Cutmore, Lisa Day
1pm (if needed) - Janine Clark
This week’s draw
9am U13 Cowra Magpies vs CYMS – Referee Laurie Beath
10am U14 Cowra Magpies vs St Pats - Referee Steve Shorten
11am U15 Cowra Magpies vs St Pats - Referee Patrick Neville
12noon U16 Cowra Magpies vs CYMS - Referee Patrick Neville
A few helpers are needed for an hour in the morning from 7.30am for the ground set-up.
