The 30-year-old is coming off a strong showing at the national track championships in Melbourne, where she won a silver medal in the women's individual pursuit and a bronze as part of the ACT women's 4000-metre team pursuit with Allison Rice, Amelia Crane and Kimberley Wells.

Wiasak has narrowly missed out on the past two major Australian track cycling teams – she was the last woman cut from the Glasgow Commonwealth Games team and the last cut from last year's world championships in Colombia.

She was coming up with a Plan B, an alternative future goal, to act as a safety net so any disappointment does not hit her too hard.

But she has let that slip before this year's worlds, which are in Paris from February 18, with the team expected to be announced this week.

Wiasak said the team was initially going to be announced before the nationals and her Plan B was to ride in the Cadel Evans women's road race on Saturday.

But she had to compete at the nationals instead and she has not come up with a new alternative plan, returning to Adelaide to train as she waits to find out if she is leaving for Paris on February 9.

She thought five would be picked and she is once again one of the six in contention.

"I packed some euros ... they're here just in case, and packing them gave me a bit of confidence," Wiasak said.

"I know I'm good enough to make this team ... but I'm really not sure.

"The Plan B I've kind of put on the back burner. You have it there to protect yourself while you're not really sure, but now I'm a little bit more confident."

Fellow Canberran Catherine Culvenor won bronze in the women's time trial at the nationals.
