The Member for Burrinjuck, Katrina Hodgkinson has announced the Cowra Branch of the United Hospital Auxiliary of NSW, Cowra Council Youth Group, Cowra Show Society, Cowra Art Group, Cowra Early Childhood Services and the Woodstock Branch of the CWA have all been successful in winning funding from a pool of $300, 000.
Local projects to receive funding include:
- Cowra Hospital Auxiliary will receive $7,742 for the establishment of a bariatric toilet at the chemotherapy unit, Cowra Health Services
- Cowra Council Youth Group will receive $21,000 for their Cowra Community Cinema Digital Projection upgrade
- Cowra Show Society will receive $25,000 for the kitchen restoration in the heritage-listed Cowra Showground pavilion
- Cowra Art Group will receive $4,500 to renew tables and chairs in the meeting rooms
- Cowra Early Childhood Services will receive $2,798 for their out of school hours children kitchen to garden project
- Woodstock Branch of the CWA will receive $6,290 to install air-conditioning and replace 85 year old chairs in the CWA rooms
Speaking at the committee rooms in the showground pavilion on Thursday, Ms Hodgkinson said she was happy to see the funding going to such a great purpose.
"It's been a privilege to support these projects that make a real difference to our community," Ms Hodgkinson said.
"This kitchen has served so many people over so many years and now it's getting a $25,000 upgrade.
"Local businesses, construction jobs and community groups will all benefit from these community infrastructure projects."
Cowra Show Society president Ian Packer said after three years of trying to get the project off the ground, the hard work can begin.
"We're ready to go for it," he said.
