At our most recent social meeting, Cowra Lions Club was privileged to host Tracey Robinson as the guest speaker. Tracey, who grew up in Quandialla, gave a fascinating speech gave about her time in Canberra working for Prime Minister Bob Hawke, and running the Advance Teams for Prime Ministers Paul Keating, Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard. Tracey moved to Grenfell earlier this year, and is now the Executive Personal Assistant to the General Manager and Mayor of Cowra Council.
During the evening, two new members were also inducted into the club. We are delighted to welcome Nancy Wall and Richard Eggleston and look forward to sharing fellowship with you both. Fittingly October is New Membership Growth Month for Lions Clubs.
Cowra Leo Club have also held their regular monthly meeting. A main focus of this meeting was the designing of a bannerette for incoming District Governor Lion Tony Smith. Some fantastic ideas were put forward and hopefully in the upcoming weeks the final design will be confirmed. It is important to note that this bannerette will be given out by Lion Tony during his visits clubs around the 201N4 District which covers Ivanhoe to Bourke and all the clubs in between.
Some very important upcoming events were also covered at this meeting. On the 8th of November, Cowra Leo Club will hold its charter night. This means that the club will be officially recognised as part of Lions International. Later in the month, the club will be hosting two movies at the Community Cinema.
This will take place on Friday the 21st of November, with the funds raised going Starlight Foundation to help sick children. Stay tuned for more details. The members of the Leo Club also received a special message from Multiple District 201 Leo Chairman Martin Peebles, congratulating them for their "ongoing Service to the Community."
