The club has around fifty athletes registered at the moment but the more the merrier, so if your child has nothing to do on a Thursday afternoon, how about joining him or her up with us?
It is still possible to register your child either at the track or by going to www.laansw.com.au.
A big thank you and welcome to the club to our new starter, Russell. Your time and insight are very much appreciated.
Thank you to Megan Robinson and the students of Cowra High who are volunteering to take groups around their events this season. Your time is also very much appreciated.
The Tiny Tots group is significantly smaller this season with only three registered compared to the eighteen from last season.
Group leader, Tracey, is looking forward to a fun and full season teaching Benny, Lexie and Clancy the finer points of athletics for when they reach competition age.
As it is only a small group, the Tots got to enjoy a larger number of events including the 100m sprint, Shot Put, Discus and Long Jump.
The Under 6's have a new athletics 'star' in Star Nelligan who threw a massive 8.34m in discus breaking the current record. Congratulations, Star! Toby, Flynn, Harry Beale, Harry Chambers, and Jackson all went well with their field events. Newcomer Willei looks like he will be a bit of a speedster on the track.
Everyone in the Under 7's enjoyed their 50m sprint, while Charlie and Jack did well in their 100m sprint.
Remi and Jett did well in Long Jump while Jack and Jackson did well in their Shot Put event.
It was a bit of a hard slog for the older aged group having to do a 400m sprint first up in round one but all the athletes took it in their stride and performed well.
In the Under 8's, Ky showed us why he is the Discus king.
Isabella Howarth ran well in her 70m sprint and Bella Cummings performed well in Shot Put.
All the Under 9's boys took on the Long Jump with ease, while Bailey performed well with the Discus.
Chelsea and Clancy sprinted to the finish line in style in their 100m and 400m sprints.
The Under 10's were the first to take on the High Jump with newcomer Beryl performing well. Eoghan went well in the Shot Put event while Zeeden, Keesha and Imogen performed well in the 70m sprint.
In the Under 11's group, Mikelli, and Luke showed us their skill the Shot Put and Charlie performed well in the Long Jump.
Jordan ran the 100m well and Brayden performed well in his 400m sprint. Good to see you back Brayds!!
The Seniors group consists of the all the remaining age groups from Under 12's to Under 17's.
All the athletes performed well with their events and showed a pleasing maturity during the afternoon.
Let's see if you can maintain that level for the whole season guys! Glad to see you like the Discus event, Taylor!
Round two begins at 5pm tomorrow.
An events programme was not available at the time of sending this article so everyone will have to wait until tomorrow to see what events they will be doing.
