Canobolas Local Area Command marked Police Remembrance Day with a service at St John's Anglican Church, with Acting Superintendent Peter Atkins saying Remembrance Day is an opportunity to honour the families of all deceased police officers and reassure them that their loved ones will never be forgotten.
"Our loss is great however a family's loss is greater," acting Superintendent Atkins said.
"Each year, September 29 holds a special significance for police throughout Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and the Solomon Islands. It is a day for police to pause and honour officers whose lives have been cut short while performing their duty as a police officer.
"It is our opportunity to honour the memory of the 252 fine men and women who sacrificed their lives so we can live in a better world today. We are always richer for their service and poorer for their passing."
