Wednesday's event was the first round of the Mrs Ben Jones Trophy when we were joined by a group of touring Ladies from Leonay Club in Western Sydney and a player from Redcliff in Brisbane.
Thursday had four Cowra players, Cookie Dolbel, Cheryl McKeown, Helen Butler, Anne Coates and Carole Doyle participating in Western Districts Finals Day at Wentworth Club in Orange. Unfortunately Cowra's Club Champion, Laura Cummings, was not available to contest the Champion of Champions due to school commitments which must take priority.
Results will be in next weeks report.
On Monday Cowra had five wins and one draw which should make the second round a very exciting day in Orange in November. Wednesday's winners received trophies from Jenni Fagan and Anne Coates who donated plants purchased from Lorraine Stubbing's eclectic nursery.
Jenny Dresser had a wonderful plus 7 to take out Division one with Dawn Boardman the Runner-Up on plus 1. Helen Butler's plus 4 won Division two and puts her in contention for the Mrs Ben Jones Trophy too.
Jan Hughes was Division two Runner-Up on plus 1.
Everyone else will have to work very hard next week to close the gap and challenge the Mrs Ben Jones leaders.
Nearest-the-Pins winners were Carmel Mansell on the Fagan 5th, Joan Roots at the Jenaul Enterprises 7th and Jenny Dresser managed to nudge closest on the Coogee Kelpie Stud 14th.
The Ball competition went out to Square with balls going to Jenny Dresser, Dawn Boardman, Jan Hughes, Helen Butler, Annette Sutherland and Lorraine Stubbing.
Last Thursday a large group of Cowra players hit off at the Canowindra Tournament with Cheryl McKeown winning the Scratch event after a countback with 85 off the stick.
Helen Moriarty won the Division one Handicap with 69 nett and was the Best Overall Performance winner. Annette Sutherland was the Division two Handicap Runner-Up with a nett 70.
Tournament notices are on the board for Boorowa on Sunday 21, Albert on Sunday 28, Mudgee on October 12 and Molong on October 16.
Moss Vale's Waratah Tournament entries close soon so contact Secretary Jenni Fagan this week.
Next week is another 18 Holes PAR event for the Mrs Ben Jones with Trophies from Cowra Cash Butchery.
The Roster has Jenni Fagan and Dawn Boardman on cards and Bev Honeybrook organising the raffle.
