Several classrooms and offices were damaged between 5.30am and 6am on Tuesday, September 2. 

Canobolas Local Area Command Inspector Dave Harvey said the full extent of the damage is still being investigated. 

“We’ve had forensic services and police examining the scene and detectives from Cowra,” he said. 

“We’re continuing a line of investigation.”

Normal lessons and school hours were disrupted as a result of the break-in. 

Canowindra High School principal, Neryle Smurthwaite said lessons will continue as normal today and thanked the community for their understanding. 

“On behalf of our students and staff I would like to thank our parents and community for their support on what has been a difficult day for our school,” she said. 

“ Such unwarranted vandalism and at such a scale is confronting to those affected but thankfully not something we often see in our community.

“I apologise for the disruption to our students education and would like to assure parents that Wednesday will be business as normal for all classes.”
