The pair reunited to produce a six-minute parody of the influx of pawn-shop reality shows, starring as father and son Buzz and Randy Jackson, owners of Barely Legal Pawn.
"We deal in the unique, the unusual and the barely legal," drawls Cranston in a bright red bowling shirt and a pair of Elvis sunglasses.
"And we always get the deal."
Filmed for Audi, a major sponsor of this year’s Emmy Awards, the short clip also stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus (as herself), who arrives at Barely Legal Pawn to hock her Emmy Award after drunkenly buying an island online.
"It’s Tinkerbell playing with a volleyball!" Paul announces, looking at the award.
Filled with in-jokes - such as Paul talking up the importance of supporting actors, the real value of winning an Emmy and the difference between a network pay cheque and "cable money" - the clip was produced by PMK-BNC, the company which last year the 'Spock Versus Spock' commercial starring Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto.
"We flew in face of convention by putting out a video at six minutes, but with the high-caliber acting and the quality of the idea, we knew we could push some boundaries," Joseph Assad, executive producer at PMK-BNC, said.
For the Breaking Bad fans, yes, there is a nod to the series. Stick around until the end to see a glimpse of what Walter and Jesse might have ended up doing if things had gone differently.
