European countries tend to dominate in qualifying with only three of twelve qualifying events taking place outside of Europe.
The locals were lucky enough however to qualify after producing some good times in the Amy Gillet qualifying ride on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria last September.
Teams qualify from placing in the top 25 per cent in their respective age groups.
One of Cowra's contingent, Dave Richmond, rode in about the top 10 per-cent at Victoria; a vast improvement on his previous year's time.
"I was slightly fitter," he said.
"It also helps when you're racing in a better group."
The Championship in Slovenia will consist of three races, an Individual Time Trial, a Team Trial and then the Road Race Final.
Taking place from August 28 to 31, Richmond believes it will be very competitive.
"It's a pretty big event so there'll be some people who are very serious," he said.
"There will be plenty of quick riders.
"The course is pretty mountainous with a few decent hills so the race will be pretty broken up," Richmond said.
Since qualifying they have been training hard with local riders here in Cowra early on Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as most weekends.
"We're always training around Cowra," he said
"It's a pretty good group here, a lot of enthusiastic riders.
"Hopefully we can get a big contingent together to qualify for next year in Denmark.
Cyclists from over 50 countries around the World are expected to participate, all vying for the coveted Rainbow Jersey and the title of Amateur Road World Champion.
"My aim is to not come last, as long as I beat someone," Richmond laughed.
"But it'll be really good to get over there and ride some kilometres."
