Maggie will be special guest at Cowra Library on Wednesday, September 3 at 12.30pm. Cowra Librarian Caroline Eisenhauer said she was absolutely thrilled to be hosting such a well-regarded author.
"Maggie is well known in the central west, having lived at Molong, and her first book featured on on ABC TV's Australian Story. So people will remember her from that coverage," Mrs Eisenhauer said.
"Her first book was deeply moving and thought provoking. Her second memoir traces her move to Tasmania, for love, and the struggles and joys of settling there."
In 'How To Get There' Mackellar explores learning to love again after living through grief, and the complexities of doing this in a community with which she is unfamiliar, with two young children.
She reflects on love after grief, juggling being a mother and negotiating a burgeoning relationship, the rhythms of country life, displacement and the writing life.
All interested people are asked to book their place by calling the Library on 6340 2180. The event is also being supported by Cowra Newsagency.
