Captain Louise Beamish said the barbeque out the front of their Macquarie Street store was a part of the organisation's territorial mission project to teach women in Tanzania midwifery and sewing skills.
"[Today's] important because it helps us think of others," Capt Beamish said.
"At times we forget how much we have in Australia."
Helping out on the day was Denise Speechley, who said people had snapped up the baked goods and plants also on sale.
"It's great to be able to help women in other countries," Ms Speechley said.
