The two Cowra schools are the only two schools from the western region to be selected into the state dance festival and is a true indication of the level of commitment and passion for dance in our small rural town.Cowra High School had 22 students who performed a piece titled 'The Bridal Train'.
This piece, choreographed by dance teacher Alison Buckley, was derived from a concept based on the song by Australian folk band 'The Waifs'.
The piece was performed to the soundtrack 'Australia' and took the audience on a journey of emotion of the love of a daughter and a country.Mulyan Public School had 24 students who performed a cultural piece based on the concept of 'Earth to Community', also choreographed by high school dance teacher, Alison Buckley.
This project was part of Cowra High School's middle schooling programme that introduces primary school students to subjects offered at CHS and its teachers.
'Earth to Community' was performed to a piece by Flume and was a highly emotional and moving piece that showcased four athletic boys and twenty girls from years 3-6 from Mulyan Public School.A big thank you to Mulyan Public School dance coordinators Kelly Statham, Gina Barratto and Kristen Apps. Cowra High School Head Teacher Creative and Performing Arts, Kerrie O'Dea, and dance teacher and choreographer Alison Buckley.
