I write with regard to State Water's response to our concerns regarding the new road at Wyangala.
Firstly I would ask Ms Urquart to outline the dealings she claims state water has had with myself.
As for the road standards, a number of residents including myself met with Cowra council representatives and asked why the road was not built to meet RMS and AUSTROADS standards as outlined in both REF'S.
Their response was that there were no road standards, only recommendations and the road was only being widened no upgraded contrary to assurances to us by Mayor Bill West.
Ms Urquart now claims the road does meet these standards so I would ask her to arrange a consultant from the RMS to meet with a number of concerned residents on site to help put our concerns to rest.
While onsite Ms Urquart may like to have someone show us the safe pedestrian access as outlined on pages 58 and 113 of the Ref.
Many thanks,
Greg Piol,
Wyangala.
The Cowra Teachers Association is right when it says school education needs increased spending, particularly for disadvantaged students.
Under this Government, schools funding rises by 8% this year, 8% next year, 8% the year after and more than 6% the year after that. $65 billion is the money the Federal Government is spending on schools over the next four years.
From that point on, we will continue to increase spending on education at the rate of inflation.
I reject claims the Federal Budget will disadvantage students in regional areas.
From 2013-14 to 2017-18, total Commonwealth funding to all schools in Australia will have increased by 37% - this is $1.2 billion more than Labor would have spent over the next four years.
Additionally, we're putting significant effort into reforms to improve the quality of teaching in our schools. We all know that money isn't always the answer to improving outcomes in education.
