The barbecue featured emu and kangaroo meat sausages and bush tomato relish.
Aboriginal Elder, Robyn Coffey, organised the NAIDOC event at the school.
"NAIDOC week is important for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal members of our community," she said.
"It is important to share our culture with the rest of Australians."
School Principal, Charles Gauci, believes NAIDOC is important.
"We are very proud of how we celebrate Aboriginal culture here at Cowra High School," he said.
"We celebrate our connections with Aboriginal people whenever we can, NAIDOC, in particular, gives us the opportunity to get the whole school involved."
Cowra High School students enjoyed Aboriginal inspired face and arm painting, as well as a visit from local Aboriginal dance group Waga-Wha.
The dancers were popular with the students. They coaxed teachers on stage to dance with them and got the students out of their seats during assembly.
Cowra High's NAIDOC celebrations continued throughout the week.
